EPISODE V
What’s Your Story?

A father walks out on his family. At that point, his young son begins to pen a story about himself — “Everybody leaves me” or worse yet, “I’m unlovable” Years later, that same young man gets married, and because he’s terrified his wife is going to leave like his father did, he holds on too tight. Or he stays emotionally disconnected from her, to protect his heart from breaking like it did when Dad left. After a season of being suffocated or rejected, the man’s wife leaves him. And his story is confirmed — Everybody leaves me.

Every man has a story. “I’m not good enough”, “I’m not smart enough” or “I’m not worth loving”. These stories are written by every person we meet throughout our life.

But these stories are often a lie handed down by our fathers, or written by them.

The only way to defeat a lie is with the Truth. We have to jettison the lie and replace it, to heal our hearts and perhaps even change what it means to be a man in our family legacy.
