In his pre-deployment speech in the movie We Were Soldiers, LTC Hal Moore states, “We are moving into the valley of the shadow of death, where you will watch the back of the man, and he will watch yours.”

Soldiers are trained to fight as a team —in platoons, squads and fireteams. No Class A uniforms and no Division change of command ceremonies. Just brothers in arms, outside the wire and in contact with the enemy.

Yet at home, men are isolated. We don’t let anyone into our lives. Every day, we deal with attacks on our marriages, kids and money, and most of us have nobody to lean on.
